Meyer Road House, Salt Spring Island

With a north facing view , the house is characterized by a series of mono-pitch roofs rising to the south to scoop light and add passive solar gain. The house is sited on a single level w/ walkout capability from large sliding doors. To do this, the sloping site was regraded and sunken slightly to the entry side and retained to the view side w/ a broad rip rap terrace of sandstone from the excavation. The house has heat pump and heat recovery ventilation technology to conserve energy as well as passive solar gain and full daylighting.
