Neil Morie has retired from his architectural practice after more than 20 years on Salt Spring Island. He is presently only taking on custom houses and working as Neil Morie Design.

A longtime island resident, Neil previously worked for a number of prestigous Vancouver firms, including 7 years with renowned architect Arthur Erickson.

Neil Morie has a broad range of experience including custom residential, multi-family housing, commercial, institutional, hotel and resort masterplanning.

Neil has served on the SSI Design Panel and SSI Planning Commission with good knowlege of the local permit process.

All projects are site specific and strive to integrate building with landscape or context. The work is sensitive to views and orientation, daylighting and micro-climate of the site. Where possible green building principles are encouraged via passive solar, mechanical systems and environmentally sensitive materials.

Local materials such as timber post and beam and sandstone are used to foster a sense of place.

The client program and lifestyle are integral and the design is seen as a collaborative process.
