Island House, Salt Spring Island
A large waterfront house to be built in the near future. This house has distinctive vaulted radius metal roofs that allude to its marine location. The vaulted roofs also scoop light for daylighting and passive solar gain.The house is heated by hydronic in- floor heating connected to heat pumps. Energy efficient wood burning fireplaces are also installed for back up and ambiance. Although a large project , every effort has been made to set the house into the sloping hillside and within an existing mature Douglas Fir and Arbutus forest.
